The more I hear about Palin, the less I like her…
Today I received an email from a friend with a statement by Rodger Schlickeisen, president of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund, concerning Sarah Palin. I believe in protecting our environment; apparently Sarah Palin believes in it less than President Bush.
This is what Rodger Schlickeisen has to say:
“Sarah Palin, whose husband works for BP (formerly British Petroleum), has repeatedly put special interests first when it comes to the environment. In her scant two years as governor, she has lobbied aggressively to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, pushed for more drilling off of Alaska’s coasts, and put special interests above science. Ms. Palin has made it clear through her actions that she is unwilling to do even as much as the Bush administration to address the impacts of global warming. Her most recent effort has been to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove the polar bear from the endangered species list, putting Big Oil before sound science. As unbelievable as this may sound, this actually puts her to the right of the Bush administration. “

Clinton vs Palin
In my last post, I claimed that John McCain nominated Sarah Palin as his VP nominee to win over the disgruntled Clinton supporters, but I have since learned more about Sarah Palin and she is no Hillary Clinton.
I no longer believe Palin will win over any of Hillary’s supporters, she is pretty much the opposite of Hillary Clinton. People weren’t voting for Hillary because she was a woman, they voted for her because they agreed with her on the issues at hand, and Palin doesn’t have the same stance on those issues, like abortion, that Clinton does. Her supporters will not flock to McCain’s campaign just because his VP nominee is a woman.
McCain is hosed
I wasn’t planning on voting for McCain anyway, but after his VP pick today, there is no way I will vote for him. I think his choice to make Sarah Palin his VP nominee was a bad one. I can see why he did it, maybe to draw in some of the disgruntled Clinton supporters and bring in some of the “youth” that Obama has, but I don’t think it will work.
Can you imagine what would happen if McCain died or became incapacitated while in office? Sarah Palin is not qualified to be president, and personally I don’t think she’s qualified to even be the vice president.
I think McCain just hosed himself.
Biography
I am a junior at UT Dallas pursuing a degree in Arts and Technology with a minor in Visual Studies. I came to UTD as a growing artist looking to polish my skills and apply them to a professional degree. Ideally, I would like to work in video game design as a concept artist. However, I am still trying to discover what my greatest strength in ATEC is, whether it be modeling, texturing, lighting, or concept art.
I have always loved art, and I since I was in junior high I have wanted a career somewhere in the field. Drawing in colored pencils was my favorite artistic medium in my teenage years; but since I entered college I have really grown to love painting, especially in oil. I am very interested in learning to use a tablet to paint digitally, as I feel it will be more applicable in my field than traditional painting. Luckily, there are ATEC courses for this, I just hope they stick around long enough for me to take them.
I grew up in a medium-sized town in west Texas, but I would love to live in the Pacific northwest. There are a couple of companies located in the Seattle area that I would love to work for, like Valve and ArenaNet. Seattle is about the most opposite of where I grew up as it could get. Lubbock is very dry, flat, tree-less, and seldom do we see rain. I went on a trip to the Seattle and Vancouver area as a teenager and fell in love with that part of the country. I felt very at home among the trees, mountains, and frequent rain. The political and general mindset of Washington is much more agreeable to me than that of Texas; sometimes I feel out of place here.
